Occasionally, I have examined the original Hebrew and Greek of the Bible, zeroing in on key words where the received English translation is debatable or misses the full meaning of the original. To clarify, the WEB refers to the Antichrist, the beasts, and the False Prophet, but makes no reference to any ‘Khan’ or ‘Lavani’, which are names for the Antichrist and the False Prophet given for the purposes of this book.

Chapter 8: The Jewish Revolt

Joel and his brother Aaron lay in wait in the dusty scrub, behind a couple of bushes. Joel was tall and dark-haired, with pale skin. Aaron was shorter. They were of Ashkenazi stock; their ancestors had survived the Warsaw Ghetto and emigrated to Israel after the Second World War. Both men wore tan-coloured civilian clothes, a kind of camouflage. Joel had an M4; Aaron had a Heckler and Koch MP5 submachine gun. There were twenty men with them, all of them resistance fighters. The resistance forces were informally known as The Stump. The tree had been cut off, but the stump remained (Isaiah 6:3), clinging stubbornly to the land, and was proving very hard to uproot.

Joel thumbed his pocket Bible, and read one of his favourite passages, Exodus 15:3: ‘Yahweh is a man of war.’ Then he returned the Bible to his pocket and took up his M4.

They were waiting for the signal, a flare. When they saw the flare go up, they would attack their target, a server farm on the outskirts of Jerusalem, the physical substrate of the beast’s AI and nanobots for that area. The idea was to take out of commission as many beastbots as possible and potentially free the minds of the marked, to aid the general revolt. The objective of the overall uprising was to retake Jerusalem from the Antichrist’s forces and establish an independent Israeli state in Judea for refugees to flee to and rally around. Perhaps a secure corridor could be established enabling the return of the 777^th Infantry from Jordan.

The resistance was orchestrated by stay behind networks from Shin Bet and Mossad, the former State of Israel’s security and intelligence services, who had prepared for this very scenario of conquest and occupation by foreign powers, given the precarious geopolitical position of their nation since its foundation in 1948. The weapons Joel and Aaron carried were supplied by Mossad and the CIA. The CIA and MI6 were also financing their resistance campaign, which targeted infrastructure, specifically Khan’s military infrastructure and his occupation forces. Some innocent civilians had unfortunately been caught in the crossfire; Khan’s propaganda made much out of those incidents. But The Stump had succeeded in creating an environment of paranoia among the occupation forces of the Olive Branch Alliance.

‘If I said to you 10 years ago, we’d be hiding in the bushes, waiting to launch an ambush with automatic weapons in Jerusalem, would you have believed me?’ said Joel.

Aaron shook his head. ‘I’d have said you were crazy.’

Joel reflected on the last seven years. He and his brother had listened to the two witnesses during their ministry. Like most of Jerusalem, they had initially seen David Goldstein and Ezra Mizrahi as a menace, because of the plagues. Even if people didn’t believe the witnesses were actually creating drought, and turning water into blood, they were associated with these events in the public consciousness, and became scapegoats, because they claimed to be creating them, and obviously intended to create them (Revelation 11:6).

The assassination and resurrection of Goldstein and Mizrahi was a game changer for a lot of people who had dismissed or even hated them. Joel and Aaron had witnessed the resurrection and ascent. They had seen it with their own eyes. Everyone in Jerusalem knew someone who had seen it, because it took place on Jaffa Road, one of the busiest streets in the city. Khan, Lavani and their media acolytes tried to dismiss the videos, saying they were deepfakes spread by the CIA and Shin Bet resistance, but many remained unconvinced.

Then Joel and Aaron turned back to the Bible and interpreted Khan standing in the temple claiming to be the Messiah very differently. Before they thought he was just some radical nutjob and had written him off as a new type of antisemitic jihadi. Now they realized Khan had very specifically fulfilled the abomination of desolation prophecies in Daniel and the Olivet Discourse. It was as if he were doing so deliberately.

If God could resurrect the witnesses after around three days, then obviously he raised Jesus, too. That was clearly the message behind the three-day interval in which the two men lay dead on the street. Joel and Aaron converted to Christianity and were baptised in the River Jordan. They did not flee to the mountains with the remnant, however. They were too angry to run. Besides, their elderly father would be unable to make the trip through the desert; he’d had a stroke and was disabled. And shortly afterwards, the Jordanians closed the border. In Obadiah (1:14), the Edomites are warned by God: ‘don’t stand in the crossroads to cut off those who escape.’ In I AM COMING SOON, Burrows predicted that the future Judeans’ escape route would be blocked by Jordan, possibly due to the Antichrist’s pressure, in a typological repetition of the King of Edom refusing to let the Israelites pass through his land (Numbers 20) … and that is exactly what had happened.

Joel had a cousin in Mossad, Noah, who was part of the stay behind network, canvassing for recruits. So the brothers had joined the resistance. They started small, handing out pamphlets from an underground printing press (due to Khan’s digital censorship). Then they graduated to acts of sabotage with former Shin Bet and Mossad agents. Their goal was to turn the occupation forces against one another, to sew mistrust from the bottom up, even if the generals and politicians were all in Khan’s pocket. Joel and Aaron blew up a lot of army supply trucks. They poisoned the water supply to the military bases. It was guerrilla warfare and the brothers were good at it. Truth be told, in his darker moments, Joel actually enjoyed causing chaos and hurting the enemy. This enemy was not like any other enemy. This enemy was working directly for the Antichrist and Satan. The Olive Branch Alliance was trying to follow in Hitler’s footsteps, to wipe out the Jews, or at any rate, all of them who would not follow the Antichrist and worship him, which was a significant percentage of the populace; to the likes of Joel and Aaron, nothing was off the table and everything was justified when fighting against such a monster.

Military service was mandatory for most over 18’s in Israel before Khan’s takeover, making that country one of the best trained civilian populations on earth. Roughly one third of the population of Jerusalem had refused the mark of the beast and the black market was huge. Against such resistance, the Antichrist was struggling to exert his authority over the region and had resorted to extreme brutality and summary executions. Nonetheless, there were parts of Jerusalem where his men couldn’t go; it just wasn’t safe for them, the resistance was too strong, and the locals were too hostile. The patrols were attacked with stones, knives, bats, firearms and bombs. Khan had never really won over the hearts and minds of all the Judeans.

The flare went up into the sky, illuminating the night.
